“The Real Deal” Richard Gadson Teams with Cooper Performance In National Guard ADRL National Championship

Cooper Performance of Macon Georgia is proud to announce that “The Real Deal” Richard Gadson will be racing the “Fulmer / Memphis Car Audio Pro Extreme Suzuki” in the 2009 National Guard American Drag Racing League (ADRL) National Championship Series.

The ADRL recently announced the National Guard as their series title sponsor and kick starts the 2009 drag race season with the “ADRL Safety-Kleen Dragpalooza V” at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown Texas on March 6th-7th. The 10 race series will also visit Georgia, Tennessee, Michigan, Virginia, Illinois, Ohio, North Carolina, and finally concludes at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis Texas with the “LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals V”.

The young Richard Gadson will be racing a new Cooper Performance built machine consisting of a D&G Chassis with an engine based on the Suzuki GS1150 pushed to over 1500cc. In addition to the Cooper Performance parts, including a custom Pro-Mod head, the engine also features a MTC Engineering cylinder block, pistons, and Generation-2 Clutch, as well as Ferrea titanium valves, and an Accurate Crankshaft. Additional support for 2009 will come from VP Fuels, Redline Oils, Shift Racing, and of course the team’s title sponsors Fulmer Helmets and Memphis Car Audio.

Jerry Cooper, owner of Cooper Performance and engine builder, was looking for a new racer in 2009 when he spoke with friend and partner Glenn “GWIZZ” Allen. Allen referred Cooper to Richard Gadson, nephew and student of 8-time AMA Nat’l Drag Race Champion Rickey Gadson. The crew coordinated a test with Richard and the Cooper Performance Suzuki, and the team was on its way. Richard had already been in conversations with Fulmer Helmets and Memphis Car Audio at the December PRI show in Orlando, who later signed as the team’s title sponsors.

“I’m really excited about the 2009 ADRL season and glad to be with Glenn and Coop.” Richard Gadson commented. “We have a top of the line chassis and power plant that should give us a good chance to compete for the National Championship.” When asked about his readiness for the 2009 season, Richard replied “I’ve had the best teacher in the world (Uncle Rickey), I’ve been very fortunate. We’ve set high expectations for ourselves this year, so I’m really looking forward to getting to Houston.”

Cooper commented that “this D&G Chassis is one of the nicest chassis that I’ve ever seen in my 30 years of drag racing, and I want to personally thank Eric at MTC Engineering, Dave at D&G Chassis, Bob at Accurate Crankshaft, and Daymon Harrison Designs for their continued support.”
